ZZZZZ
If you have not seen the original 1960's tv show The Outer Limits, I suggest you give it some of your time! :) I especially loved the episode ZZZZZ, I wonder why!? :) If you follow my blog and have done for a while then you know I have been enjoying studying Bee Keeping at a local college. I chose to study beekeeping because I have a love and interest of bees and more generally, the environment and our planet's health. :) I wanted to know if there was anything I could do in my lifetime that would help not only the bees but the planet too. I adore so many flowers and pollination is important! So many reasons to love bees!
The college grounds are incredible! So many amazing things about this place, I could go on and on but hopefully you enjoyed my pictures and all you really need to know is, I adore bees and the hives are buzzing! I'm gutted it's over but it's helped me in particular ways that make me happier! Also when we are on our walks now I scream 'BEES!' when passing particular fields of flowers like the rapeseed above and rush into them madly to start hunting for them with my camera :) So now I'd pretty much consider myself a crazy cat and bee
What else did May 2012 treat me with? Tasty watermelons for breakfast :) Yummy greens, salads and fruit snacks like carob smoothies and chunks of pineapple :) mmmm..... Embroidery skills increasing, sewing in general skills increasing, (this dress was a floor length and wrist length number from the 70's) :) Short hair cut :) and eventually days after days of sunshine for a whole week more or less so I got to go for a few walks and witness all the green and floral landscapes!! :)
Hope the sun is shining for you!

I really want to get the entire Outer Limits series on DVD. I watch the marathons on SciFi whenever they're on. That field full of flowers is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful! :) So many great episodes! :)
DeleteOh my, your hair looks so good! Beekeeping always reminds me of Pushing Daisies. Have you seen that show?
ReplyDeleteOh I saw that a few times but missed most of it, always thought I should watch the whole thing though, I take it there was bee keeping in it!? I remember Anna Friel had cute outfits! :)
DeleteBee keeping! My son LOVES bees & I'm thinking bee-keeping might be in his future. And- as usual, adore the mix of pix :O)
ReplyDeleteoh wow your hair ..gasps.. how cute you look !!! and the floral dress, i don´t know if i like more the flowers on your dress or this beautiful yellow fields!

Oh thanks! I love it now, was scary looking in the mirror at first! :)
DeleteLovely photos and such cute bees! With the bee keeping do you keep honey? I was vegan for several years in the past and was under the impression that honey wasn't vegan, but I'm not too sure on that so I thought you might know. Seems like it'd be an exciting past time however.

Hi! :) Good question, great question, how to answer small! People are so different! I don't eat honey, that's my choice though and I'd never push my view over any vegan or non vegan that wanted to eat it! :) I of course obviously have an opinion on it all though! It was interesting on the course to learn about how cruel the cheap honey industry is, how un-natural the conditions are. Honey is an amazing thing that only bees can make. The bee's anatomy is one that has evolved specifically to make a food for themselves so they can survive the winter and well, ultimately look after the queen! The healthier the brood, the better the honey, the stronger the brood, the healthier the environment. Many countries that produce cheap honey have huge problems with bee diseases, they take all the honey made, feeding the bees the cheapest sugar water in return, the bees in return produce a really cheap honey (what's going to be richer, a honey made by regurgitating cheap sugar water from a nutrient lacking bee or one from a healthy bee regurgitating nutrient dense pollen from an array of different plants offering different kinds of nutrients?!) with antibiotics from all the disease treatments the factory farm like bees have to be given thanks to the bad conditions. It is a frequent occurrence to just kill off entire hives (the scale of which must be massive!) and those are a few reasons why cheap honey is really nasty to me, not just for the bees involved but your eating what? My journey into vegan life started a long time ago now and maybe it was mostly about animal rights back then but at the moment my diet not only reflects my beliefs but it is actually all focused about how to be as fit and healthy as I possibly can be! It's just a bonus for me that I already don't eat animal products, I guess it might be weird to some but I don't really think about them as food! :) Enjoy your weekend! :)
DeleteThank you for your answer! I agree, I will eat animal products now because I'm married and it's hard and too expensive to have separate meals, but I never really knew what went into harvesting honey. It's awful :( I really appreciate you taking the time to reply!!

ReplyDeleteBeekeeping sounds so very intriguing. I wish I had a college that offered the study near me - I would surely go:) Have you ever tasted any honey from those bees? I can only imagine how delicious it is! xx Marisa
Aww hehe thanks Marisa! I love the bees! I did taste their honey actually, a wee tooth pick! The pollen they had collected had been from the trees and flowers in the woods surrounding the old abbey college, so SO beautiful! I did not really like the taste, was REALLY strong! But the whole thing so interesting! :) xxx
DeleteSimply wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAww thank-you! :) x
Deletejust when i thought you couldnt get any cuter, you get an adorable haircut!
ReplyDelete:) Thanks Wily! x
DeleteZoe Zoe Zoe! Your hair looks fabulous! I love it :) I've been contemplating shorter hair lately even though it's taken me a while to grow mine out, and you're not helping! :) I love that there are bee keeping classes where you live! I know that there are a few people here who keep bees and make honey, but I never have actually asked where they're located or if they offer any lessons. I know you're vegan, and probably don't eat honey, but I had the yummiest chocolate honey just a few weeks ago. Who would have known that chocolate + honey would be delish on toast?
ReplyDeletehope you are having a beautiful week so far!
